Lexi + Spencer | What to wear Part 1 Engagements | Bobbye Jean Photography

Hey Friends!

Thanks for stopping by the blog for my “What to wear Engagements” This will be a three part series that I am building for all my “couples” you can apply these same concepts to parents and maternity but since I’m so heavy into the wedding side of things at the moment this definitely is  targeted for all my brides and grooms.

Choosing what you will wear for your photo shoot is a huge decision that can make or break your  portrait session! I know that sounds dramatic…but, if you accidentally wear something that isn’t flattering on camera or something that you don’t feel confident in…it can ruin the experience for you! So, here are some of the best ways to choose what to wear.

Most of my couples bring two outfits one dressy and one causal, the important part is to dress to your partner. It would be a little weird if she was in a cocktail dress and he had on shorts and flip flops. Dressing to flatter your body is something that can be difficult at times as well, you will want to be comfortable and feel your best. Sometimes you have an outfit that’s just your go to because you know you look good in it and can rock it, and to be perfectly honest that’s what I want you to wear.

Number one color brides want to wear in their engagements is white or cream! Which I love and feel like it is very fitting for the occasion, I do believe there are ways we can incorporate the color and making it look stylized. As you can see in the top picture I asked Lexi and Spencer (who are on their way to modeling careers) to wear white on white with jean on jean. The reason I consider this a don’t is because you’re investing for professional pictures and you want to make the absolute most of it. Taking it a little step further into a dress and button-up will make a signifiant difference. If jeans are a must at your engagements work on more dynamic blouses and tops.

But besides white on white I feel like you can really elevate the total look by adding a little color even just with the guys shirt. Lexi still rocked out the cream jumpsuit but just by adding that pop of color in Spencer’s button up it heighten the over all look of the session.
